Setting default billing rates and expense codes for a client
Each client in Replicon has a set of default expense codes and billing rates assigned to them. These defaults are applied to projects you create for this client.
When you add a client to Replicon, they are assigned all billing rates and expense codes defined in your system by default. If you’d like only a subset of these rates and codes to be available for use in a client’s projects, you’ll need to modify their defaults.
How client defaults are applied to projects
Whenever you assign a client in the Add New Client dialog, or create a project from the Clients tab, the client’s default rates and expense codes are automatically assigned to the project.
If you change which client is assigned to a project, you will be given the option to replace the project’s existing rates and expense codes with the new client’s defaults.
Changing default billing rates
To modify the default billing rates for a client:
- Go to Clients.
- Click the name of the client, or create a new client.
- Select the Billing Rates tab.
- Add, remove, and update the value of rates, as desired.
Refer to Customizing billing rates for a project for detailed information on how to update rates.
Changing default expense codes
To modify default expenses for a client:
- Go to Clients.
- Click the name of the client, or create a new client.
- Select the Expenses tab.
- Add or remove expense codes from the list.
- Update the billing status for each code, if desired.
All codes are set to Billable & Non-Billable (meaning the user chooses whether it's billed) by default.
Refer to Setting up your project for expense entry for detailed information on how to update expense codes.
